The New West: Landscapes Along the Colorado Front Range.

By Robert Adams

Colorado Associated University Press, Colorado, 1st Edition 1974. Hardcover with dustjacket. Photographs by Robert Adams, foreword by John Szarkowski. 122 pp. 56 photographs. Approx 9”X10” (235x260mm)

“I consider Robert Adams to be one of the outstanding photographers of his generation in this country. This is an important book for the photographic field itself, not unlike the works of Paul Strand” Peter C Bunnell, Professor of the History of Photography and Modern Art, Princeton University – from the dustjacket.

One for the serious collector of fine photography books.

If you have got this far then I probably don’t need to tell you that ‘The New West’ is recognised as one of the most important photography books of the Twentieth Century. (See The Book of 101 Books: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century: Andrew Roth and The Photobook: A History, Vol II :Martin Parr and Gerry Badger.)

Extremely scarce and collectable in this, its original Hardcover 1974 First Edition.

The bad news first: The dustjacket has two tears – about a 1” piece is missing from the front and back of the jacket. There is further small (half-inch) tear to the back dustjacket at the spine.

The good news: IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS THIS IS A VIRTUALLY UNREAD NEAR TO MINT COPY. Hopefully the photographs adequately illustrate the very fine condition of this, “…one of the outstanding works of artistic photography since 1945.”

This is a rare chance for someone to add a scarce first edition to their collection

and which (dustjacket excepted) for a 35 year old book, you will probably not find again in this condition.
